Samsung G3 compatibility with Moto phones

I got a Samsung G3 Frontier for my birthday... nice but I have to run it in standalone mode as it won't synch with my Android Moto G (2nd generation). Looks like I'll have to buy a new phone

I would like to stay with Motos... and wonder which ones will work. Support is useless as they only point to their compatibility web page. But I know many not on that list do work. Any of you folks have G3s and Motos which actually work but are not on the following list?:
    DROID Turbo
    Moto MAXX
    DROID MINI
    Moto X
    Nexus 6
    Moto G4 Play

    Many thanks!

    Sorry, I don't know. However, I have a suggestion.

Since you already have the watch and are looking at android phones I suggest
you take your watch to the phone stores and audition some phones to see how
well it pairs. In general, I would give priority to the phones with the latest
version of android OS (current release is 8.0.0 November 5, 2017) and those
    that will support updates.

    Thanks,
