    First watch recommendations

    Good day everyone

I am a 15 year old boy hoping to buy his first watch at the age of 16 next year. Recently, I've been fairly into watches. I have a price range of $2000-5000 (I know it's a big price range but it all depends on how well things go next year) I'm planning to work really hard for the whole year and purchase the watch for Christmas.

    I was looking for a
    - Dress watch
    - Durable
    - Automatic movement (correct me if I used wrong terminology)
    - leather strap in possible
    - Some complications if possible
    - My wrist is 16 cm or 6.5 inches
    - Something that gets attention
    - Big brand

    I've been looking at the
? ballon bleu de Cartier (falls into criteria)
? Mont Blanc star and heritage collections (I really really like it but my father says Mont Blanc make pens and aren't good)

My father has friends at Breightling and Mont Blanc who can get me a 40% discount. My father buys from Cartier quite often and I'm pretty sure I can also get quite a big discount.

Any recommendations on similar watches? ?^?^?

I'm new to watches so any tips and advice is greatly appreciated.

Ps. I am not a "rich boy". My father promised me a good amount of money for good results from my studies. I also earn some money from swimming. So please no hate
    thanx once again ?????

    Hi Kevin,

It depends on what is important to you, it's true Montblanc watches do not have the best resale values. Also aren't these watches too dressy for daily wear? I would say go with the Cartier.

Well what would you recommend that isn't to dressy. I'm not planning to sell the watch as I probably will wear it until I lose the thing ( heaven forbid it doesn't happen) so resale price doesn't matter. :D

    Re: First watch recommendations

It's a bit overdone but I think either a Rolex Sub or Omega Planet Ocean would be great first watches and they're very versatile and resilient. Less punishing when you hit it against something or it falls or something than a dress watch.
