It's here : the new Chronograph ExoTourbillon Rattrapante

    Hello all !

It's official now, part of the announcements Montblanc will make in a couple of weeks in Geneva : a brand new ExoTourbillon model. This time, a flyback chronograph.

For the record, a flyback is way more complicated than a traditional chrono : +70% of parts. That's why it's often considered as a Grande Complication.

Again, we find here the ExoTourbillon, patented by Montblanc. In a nutshell, for those who are not familiar with it, 4 items to consider :

    1. It's positioned ABOVE the movement
    2. It's larger than a traditional tourbillon
    3. It rotates in 4 minutes, instead of the traditional 60 seconds
    4. It's, as you can see, at twelve o'clock (and not 6 o'clock)

This new model is a limited edition of 18 pieces in gold with an enamel dial. Count 250'000 EUR.

Again with the Exo range, and that might stand as my only regret : 47 mm.

A little bit oversized, don't you think ?

    Cheers,

    Olivier

Great watch, but now I'm confused - it's obviously a rattrapante, but a flyback too?

Yes, I think 47 is a bit oversized. It's beautiful for sure.

Agreed, sir, a bit oversized ! But MB always had its ExoTourbillon at this size - and even with it, the dials were seen as unreadable, confusing, for many people !

I do agree, 45 mm or something would have been better, but obviously, with such an oversized tourbillon cage, it might not be possible to go under...

Well sir, confusing I must agree, and I suppose with the cage it must be that size to accommodate everything. Other than that, it's an amazing looking timepiece.
