Question Montblanc movement MB 24.09 - what is it actually?

    Hi

My Timewalker Date Automatic is on the way I am really looking forward to it. I have also ordered a bracelet as I found it would look much nicer.

The movement is named MB 24.09 and I wonder whether it's related to ETA movement.

Anyone could help giving advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I think it depends on the date of manufacture. If it's more recent it's probably a Sellita SW300 or if it's older then it's probably the ETA 2892.

thanks a lot for your advice. It means they shifted ETA to Sellita, interesting news to me.

I have a similar question too. How does one find out, by looking the movement caliber number, whether or not it's an in house movement or what kind of movement it is in general? Thanks.

If your watch has an open caseback, movements signed 4810-XXX are not in-house. Like I've said in anotehr thread, the only In House pieces are in the Villeret, Rieussec Collections, and the TimeWalker Flybacks. All others will be ETA, Sellita, or quartz. Unfortunately it's pretty hard to tell between Sellita or ETA since the Sellita is a functional clone of the ETA, I believe Montblanc didn't change their "calibre" number designations if they've switched from ETA to Sellita. I know that the new model TimeWalkers are using Sellita since 2013 and they do have different number codes. For example 4810-501 is the ETA 7750, the 4810-502 is the ETA 7753, the 4810-503 is the ETA 7754 GMT, the 4810-507 is the Sellita variant of the 7750.

    Hope this helps.
