    Purchase advice

    Hi folks,

I'm considering getting a Timewalker Chronovoyager UTC Auto, #107336. The problem is there seems to be so few for sale, and for those that are for sale, the prices seem to be a bit high and many sellers all seem to be using the same photo. In the photo, the hands look fake (different color silver than the rest of the watch and also they look plastic). I've also noticed some of the sellers show them on backorder or sold out. So I'm wondering if MB is phasing this model out for something else or perhaps supplies are low until they can do another production run.

Here's the "stock" photo that caught my eye. Check out the hands and the numerals on the dial. I really like the design of this watch so I don't want to risk it going out of production and becoming even more difficult to find or on the other hand getting stuck with a fake. Any thoughts?

I think the reason why the sellers show they are out of stock or backorder is that you're looking at what are called grey market retailers. I bet an authorized dealer or a boutique could get you a hold of one. Someone bought a limited edition greytech flyback that was limited to 888 that was released 4 years ago a few months back so they could probably get it for you even if it's out of stock. Good luck!

    Hi George,

I think you're right. The gray market sellers' inventories do seem to fluctuate. While there is some cost savings involved, there are risks as well. Interestingly, I contacted 2 sellers (one overseas and one in the US) asking for pictures of the specific watch they're offering for sale and I haven't heard word one back from them. The risk of getting burned by a fake watch is also a concern. I've got to run by the local MB Boutique next week so I'll ask about if they have one on hand or not.

Best of luck Ed! I should be able to refer you an Authorized Dealer if the boutiques can't locate one for you.
