Off Topic post 000C - Project THOR - Official endorsement - Sir Frank Whittle

    Dear friends,

our fellow participant and friend, CBM_DOC has suggested to contact Whittle Trust and ask for their official endorsement. Which I did! I know the vote is still open and it can end up unexpectedly, but I would like to share with you the ongoing communication (BTW, I don't know why Google messed the text sizes and fonts, but it doesn't look that messy in my inbox...):

So, as you can see, we are now waiting for the result of the vote (which is very promising) and also for Mr. Ian Whittle's response, which I am sure will be very exciting news to the project participants!

Thank you CBM_DOC for suggesting such a good idea!

This watch was already going to be special for me and the other members of the group. But this to me has just doubled the special feeling.

Great communication work CzechMate, and hats off to CBM_DOC on an amazing idea!!!

Guys, I am as excited as you all are and if the endorsement is issued, this watch will be the most special edition Steinhart has ever produced!

    Wow...
    This is an exciting news.
It's really thoughtful of you (CBM_DOC and CzechMate).

I'm actually a lot more interested to know the result from this than the vote.

If it gets endorsed, it better wins the vote.

Great Job Frankie! Your letter was well written and obviously was well received by Mr. Hemsley. Thanks for your work on this matter! An official endorsement would be outstanding!

    Frankie,

    Great news you have there.

In some ways, I may be like Franklin Roosevelt's description of Winston Churchill, to the effect that 'Churchill has a hundred ideas a day, of which four are good ideas.'

You have done a great job of following up on this, and I'll cross my fingers (an American idiom for good luck) that Mr. Whittle responds as favorably as Mr. Hemsley.

I guess even if Mr Whittle doesn't give his blessing we can still use the name as it obviously stands for A Cool Watch, and we are making 111

Well, I'm sure Uwe's queen's English would have been better, but I did my best and the important thing is, that the response was promising!

LOL, never heard that description of Sir Churchil, but I do admire this man... I'm holding my thumbs (a Czech idiom for good luck) and hope that we get response from Mr. Ian Whittle soon...

Well, that would be a pitty, but I'm sure unless the name is trademarked, we can use it even without permission... I would love to have signed letter of endorsement to be included with every watch though...
