Off Topic post 007 - Project THOR - Hands design thread

"A" dial has won, now comes the “Hands Post”.

After trying many options with the winning dial, three things were obvious to me, so IMHO:

    • One, we must use a set of hands taken directly from the cockpit.
    • Two,They must be solid because the dial itself has too many lines and information in it.
    • And three, they must be full lumed.

So I came up with three sets of hands.

They are more or less interchangeable, we can use a minute hand from a set and an hour and from another set. The same for the second hand.

Subdials’ hands must remain together, obviously, and are somehow related with the minute hand of its set.

    The options are these:

There are pictures from the cockpit on the right, so everybody to understand where they come from.

    Hope you like them.

One more thing, the subdial hands of the first option are similar to this:

    Also GMT, BTW.

    Regards and please discuss,

Number one it is. Let's vote

I really like one, as it is, but I also like the seconds hand on Number two. I discounted the hour hand on three at first, but actually I quite like it. I guess we'd need to see how a mix and match works out, but number one is just splendid.

    Good work CC

With all the respect, I disagree.
The purpose of this project is not to make the copy of cocpit unit but to create the timepiece having an inspiration in 1950th style... so there is no need to limit youself with any hands actually used.

I personaly do not fancy options N2 and N3. N1 looks too simple - not totally appealing to the style used.
I just have a sence that sticking to the hands, actually used in cockpit we loosing the chance to create something outstanding and will come to mediocre one...
Hope that you agree - if authentic style is not the best one, we have to consider the other options...

Of these three options, #1 is the best fit and most legible.

Foe the main hands, 1 is probably my preference. Not keen on the GMT hand, though, and would be open to mixing up the second hand. Also keen on the Junghans above - great watch

What's wrong with the hands we have already voted for and selected a year ago?

Out of the options given - Main hands from 1 with GMT & PR from 2 would be my pick.
