Off Topic post OLD THREAD - Design Thread 12: The Dial Font

Project THOR – Design Thread 12

    DIAL FONT

    PLEASE READ THIS POST CAREFULLY!

This is the Dial Font design thread. This design thread will be different from previous design thread. We will not be looking for ideas, instead, we will be reviewing proposals from our court designer and trying to prepare for a vote. We will be carefully examining his drawings, choosing the best one and then we will proceed to a vote. So this thread will be fairly short and the vote will come quite quickly.

Of course we can also address possible issues you might find a try to correct them. But other than issues, we will not be changing the font Triton has proposed, it's just a font, it's not something we can design from a scratch...

I personally think, judging the drawings bellow, that Triton has offered us plenty to choose from, covering every possible style that matches our theme and dial design.

There are no special rules in this thread except one: if you find serious issue with the dial font, please mark your post as ISSUE in big bold letters. Like this:

    ISSUE

So that I don't have to read every post over and over to find issues...

OK, gentlemen, here are the contenders in this beauty pageant:

I looked at the different options after shrinking the size down to about the same size as it would be on my wrist. Out of these, #6 looks the best to me for clarity and balance, followed by #3 and then #4. #1 looks too wide, #3 too heavy, and #5 too boxy or square, Of course, these are just one person's feelings.

It reminds me of a quote attributed to Groucho Marx: “Those are my principles, and if you don't like them...well I have others.”

Attempted same on my desktop. After studying these renders for a bit, my eye is ruling out #1, 3 and 5; and I haven't prioritized the remaining three just yet.

Have you seen the ophthalmologist recently (and pun intended!)? #1 is the best choice of them all! I can't believe you prefer #6... Wow... I hope there are people with less diopters than you two...

As a matter of fact, yes ...but I'm still blind as a bat and it's not getting any better. Reading glasses anyone?

#1 is boring. #3 is nice, but should be a little thinner. #4 and #6 also acceptable.

Re: Design Thread 12: The Dial Font

#1 and #4 are #1 choice for Triton. So aside from the fact, that it is neat and nice, I take our court designers word as a confirmation of a good choice... But I know it takes time to separate the good choices from the cool choices, that will eventually become too cool to look at...

My only immediate and definite 'no' is #5. I don't really like the balloon quality of #3 So at present I'm leaning to #1, #2 & #4
