Pen OLD THREAD - Vote Thread 8b: From Six to Three

Design Vote 8b: “From Six to Three”

    This thread is now closed.

Full results of the vote can be found in post 103 and 127 of this thread.

The following layout designs (see renderings below) were voted for inclusion to the next round:
    #11
    #8
    #13

As a result, layout designs #9, #10, and #12 are no longer a part of the layout design process.

    Original Text:

We’re now at the second official (and mandatory) vote of the layout design phase.

The purpose of this vote is to eliminate three of the layout options that were presented in the layout design thread and were based on the contributions of the project’s participants. This step will simplify the task of fine tuning the remaining three renderings so that they can be used for the final layout vote.

In the vote form you will be asked to rank all six of the current layouts in order of preference. Please be sure to carefully consider the rank you give to each layout as you can influence the final ranking of all six, including those those that are not your top three choices.

Remember, this thread is NOT for the continued discussion of the dial layout. Please use the appropriate Design Thread for such posts. This thread is strictly for comments concerning the vote itself – or for anyone experiencing problems with the voting process and needs to let us know.

Online vote forms will be sent out to everyone over the next 24 hours (by 18:00 Aug. 14, EST).
This vote will run for SEVEN days (from 14 – 21 August), or less if all eligible votes are received before the end of the voting period (it would be a miracle). The vote results will be tabulated and posted in this thread upon its completion and in the project summary post of the FAQ thread.

IMPORTANT! This vote is mandatory and WILL count against your participation count in the project.

The Usual Fine Print Concerning Our Voting Process (please read if you haven’t already):

Over the next 24 hours a vote form will be sent to the email address you used to register for the project. Please look for this email, fill out the form completely – and accurately – and then submit it. You will need to use the Unique Identifier (UI) number that was sent to you in a WUS PM by CzechMate when you first registered for the project. Please contact CzechMate if you do not receive your vote form by 15 August at 21:00 GMT (and after you've checked your spam/junk folders).

An option that receives the majority of the votes (>51%) will be considered the winner.

All voting for Project THOR will use the STV system, which allows a person to rank all options in order of their preference. In other words, if your first choice doesn't get enough votes to win, your vote will automatically roll over to your second choice, and if necessary (and applicable), your third choice and so on. This is an excellent system, one that we used to great success for our last Steinhart project watch. We suggest that you search Wikipedia for “single transferable vote” if you would like more detailed information on how the STV works.

Once the vote has concluded, and the results have been posted, those who are unsatisfied by its outcome have two options: They can either notify us that they wish to leave the project, or they can accept the result and continue on. There will no option to debate a vote result or to repeat it. If you decide to leave the project we would appreciate that you immediately notify us so that your position on the registration list can be given to the next person on the waiting list.

    Vote cast...

Same here, dial layout no.13 is the best base for further tweaking, hopefully people will support this bold dial layout...

BTW, I had a problem to send the form directly via the Vote form (Goodle says I have exceeded my email quota... Stupid, I only use this account for sending out forms and communicating with Uwe and Simon - well, maybe it shows how frequently we need to talk in order to keep this project running ), so if anyone has not received the form, please let me know!

And BTW, if you send me a PM several weeks after the vote is over, saying that you did not receive the form and that I should make sure, that the vote form is sent to you, because you 100% did not receive it, please keep in mind, that there is this vote thread, where you can see that the vote is in progress and there is also the FAQ thread, where you can read the same. If you do not read the forum, please do not be surprised, that you miss something...

Still think 11 & 8 have a lot of potential. Not keen on 10 & 12 at all. 9 & 13 are in the middle for me.

Re: Vote Thread 8b: From Six to Three

OK, here are the interim results:

    20 votes in.

For me the most boring layout: 35%
    The quite acceptable option: 25%
    The best layout: 15%
The second and third best: 10%
    The fourth best: 5%

So now you know, that certain dial layout has 15%...

    Please support bold design...
