Chronoswiss, under new ownership, is beginning to develop its own identity. The new collection is designed to appeal to younger generation. Chronoswiss of yesteryear was bit more subtle with smaller cases with the exception of the polarizing TimeMaster series. Some features remain the same - the large 10, 2, 4, 8 numerals, the big onion crown, and the Guilloché dial.
Chronoswiss is now producing all the watches in Switzerland while specializing in dial work. And the new dials of the Classic series show that expertise.
First new introduction is the Timemaster GMT watch. Here is how Chronoswiss explains the new GMT dial:
In 2015 Chronoswiss takes the next step with its Timemaster GMT: For the first time in the company's history, a new material is being used - carbon celebrates its premiere on the lavish dial, which is composed of several layers. The high-quality composition in smooth anthracite gives the durable sports watch a "face" with three-dimensional depth - you can clearly make out individual filaments - and emphasizes the overall sporty feel.
The design's color scheme is heavily made up of highlights in "racing yellow", a highly dynamic colour. With its Super-LumiNova coating, the GMT hand even glows in the dark. Depending on the design, "racing yellow" produces a striking contrast to the anthracite of the carbon dial or a galvanic blue sheet with fine sunburst finish. Just like all Timemasters, the new model with GMT feature is available either with a pure stainless steel case or with DLC coating.
Chronoswiss is launching a brand-new special edition in cooperation with Thomas D, Smudo, Michi Beck and And.Ypsilon, better known as "Die Fantastischen Vier" (The Fantastic Four): The Timemaster Chronograph Day Date F4. The famous German hip-hop band, which has just launched its new album "Record" and will be going on a major tour starting in December, is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year.
From the very beginning, the band members considered only a sporty Timemaster model for their special edition. They eventually selected the Timemaster Chronograph Day Date, which offers a day-of-the week as well as a digital date display in the window at the "3" position. The watch face, with Timemaster's characteristic striking representation of the four numbers 2, 4, 8 and 10, references the "4" from the band's live logo. Besides that, the model has a more minimalist design in keeping with the Fantastic Four's new look. Michi Beck, the band's design enthusiast, has chosen mainly classic black-and-white color contrasts. Only in one area do things get a little "louder" – the lettering of the F4 limited Edition comes in fireengine red. In addition, the Super-LumiNova coated elements on the face and hands of the special timepiece, which are white in daylight, glow green in the dark.
Another highlight is the engraving on the back of the striking 44 mm case: Instead of the engraved turbine emblem characteristic of the Timemaster case back, the live logo of "Die Fantastischen Vier" – a striking, polished "4" – is found here as well. The sporty chronograph is available in either a DLC-coated stainless steel case with rubber strap or a steel case with DLC-coated bezel and stainless steel bracelet.
