    Apple releases WatchOS 3

Apple released WatchOS3 today. It appears there are big changes
    from WatchOS 2.

To update the Apple watch OS:
-First, update the paired iPhone to iOS 10.
-Second, charge the battery and ensure good signal
strength for iPhone and Apple watch.
-Third, open the watch app on your iPhone and look in General
    then Software Update.
-Fourth, when the phone responds select Download and Install.

    Features:
    battery life improvement
    OS speed up
    control center
    application dock
    scribble text to reply
switch between watch faces (now including Minnie Mouse)
edit watch faces on your iPhone
    SOS mode
    disable screenshots
    activity sharing
    wheelchair mode
    tap back
auto unlock a paired Apple Mac

Post your reviews of the new features.

    Thanks,

Unfortunately everyone will have responded before I get my phone. Looking to see how those with series 1 and 2 watches find WstxhOS 3.X

Series 1 and 2 should be shipping with watchOS 3 installed. Gen1/"Series 0" can receive the update.

I'll be doing mine this weekend, probably. If watchOS 3 is as good as the beta testers have been saying, I'm more excited for this update than I am for iOS 10.

It is significantly faster. The new "dock" activated with the button, which use to activate friends, is so much more useful. I'm very pleased with the update. Find my friends is also on the watch now which I was pleasantly surprised with. I just like that everything works more smoothly.

“Deleting” Apple apps is probably a feature more important on the AW than the iPhone—I count five new Apple apps on the AW, five more circles of clutter.

That said, am loving the speed improvements, the dock is so nifty, and I already used scribble to text a few times today already. That last one is one less reason to pull my phone from my pocket, so yay.

Editing to add: WatchOS 3 has quelled my want for a Series 2. GPS, 50m water resistance, brighter screen, larger battery are wants, but so far none of them are needs. I thought WatchOS 3 would slow down my watch but, I’m finding this update makes my watch feel zippier—natively installed apps make all the difference.

Can anyone tell me how much space OS 3 takes up?

I think the total file size is around 2gb but the update was like 50mb. Here's a pic of my watch I think it comes with 8gb total memory.

I hate the app layout I wish they just did a list like 4 per screen and toggle with the crown. But thanks to dock I don't think I'll use it that much anymore.

That would work if I only used between four and eight apps. As it is now, I can access whichever ones I want with fewer swipes than a four-per-screen layout would need.

The 6th gen iPod Nano (I call it Apple Watch Public Beta 0.6x) had four items per screen. There was never a way to install third-party apps; if there had been, and if users wanted to install a dozen apps or more, the four-apps-per-screen limit would get more and more difficult to navigate and rearrange.

Apple's been working on the AW since, I'd say, early 2010, or at least as soon as someone decided to try the 6th generation Nano on a wristband.
