It's much more negligible now than it was on Series 0. If you did a workout with the watch with the heart rate on you would be down to 25% from 100% after the workout. I think at that time it was always on. Now I think it checks periodically so it's not as painful to the battery.

Started a workout right after puling my S2 off the charger last night. When I finished after about 70 minutes, the battery was at 100%. :-O

I've seen people say that theirs has been good enough to do a marathon (6-8 hours) [edit - HALF marathon, and not 6-8 hours of running] and have around 20-30% remaining.

Rule of thumb: If you have the watch do everything, it'll use more power. If you offload duties to other devices -- a HR chest strap, and keep the phone on hand to use its GPS -- it'll go for longer.

I have the Marine Corps Marathon coming up. I used the watch to stream my music and also use the Nike Run Part. When I was done it was at 13%. This was a 20 Mile Run that took roughly 3:10. No way this things would last the whole marathon.
    Thanks Nick

It will make it if you run fast!

I wonder if the Nike app isn't as efficient as the stock Apple app. (I haven't used my Nike app on the watch in well over a year because it had a habit of crashing)

One of the guys over at MacRumors took his S3 w/LTE on a half marathon recently, playing onboard music (not streaming like Spotify) along the way, and had 33% near the end. Says he also used it for a couple phone calls, some texting, and tracked his daughter via Find My Friends.
