Anyone here go to WOSTEP school?

Has anyone here been to one of the WOSTEP schools?

There is a book, Theory of Horology by Charles-Andre Reymondin et. al.. It runs over $175 off of Amazon. It claims to be the textbook for the WOSTEP curriculum.

Before I go dropping $175, does anyone know if that claim is in any way close to true?

I know it is for SAWTA schools, so I'm assuming the same for WOSTEP.

I've been looking for a used copy for a year.

I bought my copy at Vector. They are (besides other things) a supplier of watchmaker lathes.

If I remember correctly, I got the copy of the book for a decent amount.

They seem to have the english, french and german editions available.

    Maybe worth contacting them.

Unfortunately, I‘m not allowed to post links, so I try to navigate your browser:

Go to vector-technik.de - then select the menuentry ‚Literatur’ and choose ‚Theorie der Uhrmacherei‘.

It's the WOSTEP book. It's pretty good, it won't teach you to be a watchmaker step by step (it really is a textbook and teaching aid), but it has quite a bit of good info.

The purpose of the book is in the title - it's the Theory of Horology, not practical watchmaking steps.

    IMO worth having for sure.

Yeah, I'm thinking this and then something practical like the Chicago School of Watchmaking course would go well together.

How about the other classics with similar titles?

A Practical Course in Horology by Harold Caleb Kelly

Modern Methods in Horology by Grant Hood

Lessons in Horology Volume 1 by Jules Grossmann (So far as I know there never was a Volume II)
