I Hate ETA2824 Movements! Am I the only one?

I have 2 botched ETA 2824 movements now. Both were sourced as cheap chinese clones from ebay. Both of them have the same problems:
    1. The crown stem does not go back in and gets stuck in date set position. I opened and fixed this
    2. The dial feet don't clamp on. The clamps move freely
    3. hands pop out randomly

Are others using these clones facing these issues? How to fix them?

And therein lies the problem IMO.

So you don't actually have a 2824 but a cheap clone.... You get what you pay for.

I have bought a Sea-gull 2130 for about 4x the price of a cheap clone. Let’s see how that does. Just arrived yesterday and will swap out a troublesome 2824 at the weekend

    :)
Any way to fix these? I am not going to go for a more expensive movement because a) this is a hobby, b) I have a budget and c) I have a better half which probably why #b exists.

Frankly, my post doesn't elicit that sentiment of expression! Have any help to offer?

    1. Sounds like you already have this sorted. I find the best way to deal with such a problem is to figure out what they did wrong and right it.

Edit: This was a smart-assed answer, please ignore.

    If it's a good meter, it's a Fluke.
Hang my self when I get enough rope. (It's a Tubes lyric, from the mid 70's; song's called "White Punks on Dope". Enough said?)

The responses are what they are because you don't have problems with "ETA 2824", you have problems with cheap (or not so cheap) Chinese clones, which really are entirely different things.

If you'd titled the thread "Does anyone else hate Chinese 2824 clones?" You would have got a very different response!

I've been earning my living at this for about 25 years now and can do 2824s in my sleep.

But the clones often still give me problems because of the terrible tolerances many are built to.
