Modifying an aftermarket crystal in order to reuse the tension ring

    Hi
I've heard that this is something people do in order to reuse the old tension ring.
Normally, the problem is that the inner diameter of the new crystal is too small.
I'm assuming that material is removed during this modification.
Have you tried it before ? Any recommended techniques ?
    thanks!

I've done it numerous times. You have to turn it in a lathe, very sharp tooling.

Is there any particular reason why you wouldn't buy a crystal with a tension ring?

A lot of old chronos have a painted/printed tension ring which needs to be transplanted.

It can be done with a diamond dremel bit with a lot of practice.
