Anyone have experience sending Vintage (1970s) to Tissot Service Center?

I am wondering if I would be happier sending this watch to a Tissot Service Center for repair/service/restore or better luck looking local? I am curious about price as well, though Tissot service prices for modern watches seem pretty good.

That sounds like a bad idea, as authorized Tissot service centres spend most of their time on warranty work, which could just mean swapping the whole watch or movement. Best to look for a good independent watchmaker in your area.

    Thanks,

I wondered if Tissot would have a full-restoration type service. I think Omega has something like this. It would be very expensive though undoubtedly. I have had three vintage (even older than the Tissot, but not as unique) that I mailed out for servicing and partial restorations at a place that specializes in vintage. The problem is that the place I sent to is Very Very slow.

You can ask Mark Sirianni in PA. He repaired one of my vintage Tissot watches and did a great job for a reasonable price.

Usually, Tissot service centers would have a lot of knowledge of more modern watches.
It would be better to find a good watchmaker in your area.
As general advice, a good watchmaker makes it easy to collect watches :)

Tissot would do nothing on that one, or let you choose a new current one on an exchange basis... :/

Omega Biel HQ are still doing a great job on vintage work, though.
