Thinking of buying a Tissot Pocket watch

    Hello,

I am thinking of buying the T83.4.403.12 Tissot Pocket watch and was just wonding what peoples opinions were on this watch. I am hoping for this watch to be somthing that will be a family heirloom and be passed down through the years( I can't afford anything much more that $500. How easily will the gold plating wear off of it?

    Thanks,
    Groo

Pocket watches haven't seen much discussion here in the past. You can up your chances of getting some opinions by posting on the WUS Pocket watch forum as well.

Good luck and keep us informed.

Tissot makes a number of pocket watches; some of them are plated in gold or rhodium, but there are models available in solid gold, solid silver and one in stainless steel. I would take a close look at the latter or the silver one because the case will last for ages and it doesn't cost as much as gold. I have a rhodium-plated quartz model that I use when I'm doing yard work or any activity where I might scratch up a wrist watch.

Oh, if you are interested in the stainless steel one, the reference number from the website is: T83.7.407.32
