Re: So I got ripped off by a long-term member. What can be done?
You need to provide a complete full explanation, and since he is a member he will be able to tell his side of the story as well. Pretty sure a one sentence complaint without a bit of background won't get a member banned, and also don't understand at all member's "oshuwah"'s like--what is to like, with no info whatsoever?
Re: So I got ripped off by a long-term member. What can be done?
2 threads started by you on this topic. With neither being in the correct forum or containing any useful information. I doubt a long term member ripped you off for $200.
Either way, this should be interesting. At least until it gets locked.

3. Private Messages (PM), along with other private correspondence, are not to be posted to the open forum without the permission of their original authors. If someone is concerned about the content of a PM that they receive, they should report it to the Moderators who will consider what action is to be taken.

My thoughts exactly. And think about it: if someone spent years on this forum building up good will (and he has solid feedback until now), but suddenly took a turn toward the dark side and decided that it was time to take advantage of someone, don't you suppose the long con on that would end with a fake Rolex or Patek sale, not a $225 watch? That's a long hustle for $225. He has sold real watches over the years and received positive feedback from real members. I wouldn't trash his name publicly over this. Contact a moderator.
Re: So I got ripped off by a long-term member. What can be done?
I second the motion to PM a mod and see where that goes. I understand you're unhappy with whats going on and I'm sure everyone else would feel the same way, but posting someones private information in a public forum like that is just wrong!
Re: So I got ripped off by a long-term member. What can be done?
The user probably has a compromised account.
The chat log details remind me of my childhood friend who was a pathological liar and would add unnecessary details to bolster his stupid story.
Who the heck tells somebody what elevation they're currently at when they're conducting a watch transaction? For some reason I really hope I'm not wrong.

It does seem like a fake attempt to sound friendly. I do like how Adam's response was comically opposite of the wine country experience. I don't wish bad weather on anyone but it was funny reading it.
Re: So I got ripped off by a long-term member. What can be done?
Seek financial recourse through your bank or credit card. I think your being strung along with the "bonus" to delay you from making a claim till there is no possible means for anyone to get the money back from him. The overly friendly stuff is alarming too.
In your case and as others stated this could be a hacked account too but the result is the same (no watch, no tracking number) and you need to explore options for getting your money back.
Re: So I got ripped off by a long-term member. What can be done?
hope it works out OP.
as a general matter, I only use venmo between friends. You see people asking for venmo on craiglist which is also a big no. That's because they know how to take advantage of how Venmo processes funds. https://www.thebalance.com/venmo-scams-315823
