Flaw on Snowflake minute hand - pics

I love taking macro pics of my watches; I tried to document the sharpness of the hands and discovered what looks to be either a chip on or a bit of corrosion/bubbling at the tip of the minute hand...

Given GS's standard of impeccable finishing, is this a defect or considered acceptable, and would it be covered under warranty?

I purchase this new from an authorized dealer a couple months ago.

Nasty...but I doubt GS would consider this reason enough to have the hands replaced. If it can’t be discerned with the naked eye, it doesn’t really exist.

That really stinks and I understand why it would bother you. I expect the outside to see some action but not the inside. Not sure GS would replace the hands but would be worth asking. They pride themselves on detail and the Snowflake is at the very very top for them. Sorry you noticed it - doesn’t distract from the fact you have an awesome watch.

I would send an email to Seiko with those pictures. Or have your ad handle it..

^ This. Give them a chance to provide remedy. Their response will say a lot about the type of "luxury" brand Grand Seiko aims to be.

The flaw is almost impossible to see without magnification but definitely something your AD should make right. Here, we have an independent dealer that specializes in high end European watches. The owner told me it isn't unusual for his customers to come to the store with a loupe or other magnifier.

Hmm, interesting logic. By the same token if there's a chip on the mainplate or a bridge in the movement that you can't see without taking the movement apart it's acceptable?

No I won't accept this if this were mine. Even though you have the photos under high mag I'm guessing you do see it upon close examination. I'm quite sure GS will make good and offer to have the hand replaced.
