    CWC Automatic or Quartz?

Thinking of ordering yet another CWC, now this would not be bought for investment but for a gift. Purchase value doesn't matter but which would someone prefer as a first half decent CWC military watch starter for a collection etc?
Auto or Quartz? And why you would choose?

For a regular person, a quartz makes more sense. For a WIS, give them the auto.

I concur. Most folks will prefer the convenience of a quartz watch.

Lot of different factors make up the recipient... but I would be inclined to go with an auto

Personally, I'd choose a quartz. Because, at least since 1981, that's what CWC produced for the Royal Navy and the junior Services. I have an issued 1981 Quartz Navigator and, in the days when we had to navigate with a sextant, quartz was a great blessing that greatly improved the accuracy and simplified the process of navigation.

I'd make the same argument if you were thinking of a Diver - the CWC RN Quartz Diver was the real deal - and I had a few of them on issue also.

Specifically, if I were buying for myself, I'd buy one of the forthcoming Quartz Diver remakes with the lumed bezel and the (T) mark on the dial.

There's a forthcoming Quartz RN diver with a luted bezel?! That will be fantastic!! I can't find any info on the CWC website, though. Where did you hear that? Sounds really great!

Finally sold off all of my autos. Not sure what I really ever saw in them (after 15 or so). Nothing but quartz now; so I suggest quartz.
This one is auto. Sold it and got quartz.

It's a modified batch of the 83 Reissue being released later this month. Luminous insert as the original 83, T dial, fat minute hand and light vintage lume. Should be outstanding.

Automatic all day I must disagree that there is anything convenient about a quartz esp when the battery dies And the person Doesn’t know how to open up the back and change the battery. I always say this if you were stuck on an island what type of watch would you rather have a battery-operated or an automatic. If the price is the same Go with the automatic because it’s a better piece of craftsmanship and you can explain that to the person you are gifting the watch to.
