Looking at a CWC 1982 W10 'Fat Boy' - has the crystal been replaced?

    Hi guys,

Just started to get into watches and would like to buy my Dad a special gift for his Birthday and Christmas combined. He loves all things military and so after doing some looking round I think I'd like to get him a CWC 'Fat Boy'.

After looking around I came across this one on e-bay ebay.co.uk/itm/CWC-G10-Royal-Navy-0552-military-watch-1990-excellent/143288246406?hash=item215ca52086:g:xrQAAOSwRs1c~TU R (sorry for the lack of hyperlink - the forum wouldn't let me post it)

My first thoughts were that it was a nice example from that year but maybe a little heavy on the price but then I started to wonder about the crystal - it looks a little too tall compared to some other examples I saw.

Ideally I'd like to get him one that is wholly original and so I don't want to pull the trigger on this one, only to be disappointed that the crystal isn't original.

I thought you guys would be the best people to ask. Your thoughts and opinions would be greatly received.

    Thanks,

    Brad.

It is a G10 but it’s not a ‘Fat Boy’. Fat Boys were only built in 80-82 under the CWC and Prescista brand names.

G10’s built after 82 are just plain old G10’s no matter which branch of the MOD they were issued to.

Apologies, I had that many windows open looking at different G10's I copied the wrong link.

    Correct link is:ebay.co.uk/itm/1982-CWC-G10-British-Army-W10-Fatboy-Falklands-era-LOW-issue-number/143266659811

This is the one that I am looking at but have the questions about.

Sorry again for the mix up.

So in answer to your question.....I don't know about the originallity of the crystal on the '82 pictured, but the 1980 above is original.

    Also look at this link...
