Bulova Accutron Astronaut 1968 M8 Swiss type 4

    Hi Bulovarian,

This is my first accutron watch and it's a Bulova Astronaut !

    Description :

Bulova astronaut m8 1968 type 4 with black bezel and white cream and Jb Champion bracelet ( bullet ).

Little scratch on glass but not a big deal still very clear. All tritium on hand ligtht in dark after 50 years ! I don't open the case yet because I need specific tool but I have open the battery slot, I put a energizer 387s md silver 1.55 v inside and after 30 years without work, I listened for the first time the bulova accutron system and his sound the "hummm". Amazing engineering of watch.

So I already love this watch !

    Best regards,

Congratulations...it is an excellent acquisition. But permit me to make an suggestion. If it has not been serviced within the last five years take out the battery and do not operate until you have it serviced by a qualified Accutron technician. The oils and lubrications have long since dried and continued operation risks damage to the movement. I understand your excitement and passion but to ensure years of trouble free enjoyment have it serviced.

Not too many years ago these Cream Dial Swiss Astros were very hard to come by. It seems lately that quite a few have surfaced. They are a very collectible Astro variant. And as mentioned. Get that watch serviced.

    Hi !
First thank you for all your comments :)

As you can see I'm really happy with this watch but I understand the problem and I just take off the cell for save the accutron mecanism. I'm French so very hard to find an accutron's watchmaker specialist
@accutronredux thank you for told me what was necessary to do.

@minuteman62 awesome watches there ! I will try to find the black dial ;)

    Best regards,

Considering your location I would certainly recommend Rob Berkavicius, Bangkok, Thailand. He would be one of the closest to you and one of the best accutron guys on the planet. He has restored both my Swiss Astros along with 20+ other accutrons of mine and I am in the US.

Gorgeous watch! I also recently picked up my first Astronaut. Wore it to work once just to satisfy the itch. Now it is currently out for precautionary service, It should be back to me by next week!

I've been admiring this model. What does service from Rob B typically run? I'm in the US.
