Richard LeGrand has released another diver, compressor style case this time. Looks like it's available immediately at $219. 4 colour options.
I was seeing it earlier, looks like a good design and a great bang for the buck. Too bad for the lack of sapphire. I like the new logo, looks like they acknowledged that some people found their name a bit silly.
I have to be honest about that one. I can see why it hasn't met its funding goal (yet). I looked at it and was a bit intrigued by the unique minimalist dial and dial color. However, minimalist watches are tricky because they either get everything just right and it works, or they come across as boring. I tend to think the dial design works on this one, but I can imagine quite a few people thinking it looks boring.
The real negatives on this one, IMHO, are the case and the crown. Sort of a Zodiac Sea Dragon or AEVIG Valkyr shape - which is an interesting shape/style - but not executed well on this one. It looks like a flat piece of steel punched out on an assembly line (yeah, I know, most of them are) from one flat piece of steel, with nothing else done whatsoever. Same for the crown. It looks like the designers turned their attention to the crown at 11:50 a.m. and had a lunch reservation at Noon, so they grabbed a crown from the generic crown bin and made their Noon reservation time. When you are launching a watch and an entire brand, it needs to be a passion and you obsess over every little detail, and even then, success is not guaranteed. Seriously look at that crown and ask if they obsessed over every little detail.
Timex released a new collaboration with Nigel Cabourn, the Referee watch. 40mm stainless steel case with domed acrylic. I have to assume quartz movement, though no retailer lists that particular spec. £139 GBP. I'm tempted, but will probably wait for a price drop or pre-owned.
All Saints collection from AC Timepieces
41 x 49mm, 10mm thick.
316L stainless and sapphire.
Campaign is live on KS.
Early birds USD $299 for the auto (SW200), $165 for the chrono.
8 models all up.
I quite like the look of these (particularly the three hander), won't be backing as I can't wear nickel, and the size is slightly larger than I'd prefer.
Just watched the video, that's disappointing. There's a thread on the dive forum where some have received the watch, no mention of sloppy bezels (yet)...
I am pretty intrigued by the Serica watch. It looks like a cool mashup.
