    60 dollar miyota movement watch

Inbound tomorrow, houses a 2805 automatic miyota movement, 50m wr, and apparently a sapphire crystal.

    Case Diameter:40mm/1.6in / Band width:18mm/0.72in / Case Thickness:11mm/0.44in.

I'll post my reaction when I receive it tomorrow

Thumbs Up Re: 60 dollar miyota movement watch

I have a couple of watches with similar movements and Sapphire crystal too.

Both are homages, but great watches all the same. I paid around £40 for the Cadisen with the Black Dial and the Ochstin was a bit cheaper at £34. I probably wear the Ochstin with the Rose Gold colour case a bit more as the Black is a bit sombre to some i.e. the Boss, the Mem Sahib.

Enjoy your new watch and wear it in good health!

    Intriguing.......

Miyota 28** series plus Sapphire plus full 5atm PLUS real CERAMIC bezel (!) is certainly possible and not to be be sneezed at if you strike it lucky!

I payed barely 40 quid for my little slice and it still boggles my mind and gets regular love and wrist time..................................

And while I don't want to poop on your parade I got all this (............) for just a tenner.............

My only point being-there is nothing like the satisfaction of nabbing a bargain?

I hope yours works out equally well,FLy, and look forward to seeing it in the flesh.

    Best

    Here it is.

Not bad, nice finishing on the case, exhibition caseback, miyota movement as advertised. 50m wr and a signed crown ! The only thing lacking is the strap which is an easy fix.

Does anyone know how I can remove the dial ? I took off the back but the dial looks like it can only come off through the glass but I dont not see anyway to remove the glass without removing the dial....

It seems the 6 hour marker may be dirty or scratched..

My thoughts are that to get to the dial you probably need to take the back off and then release the movement by releasing the crown. There is normally a release that you need to push on the back of the movement and then you can pull the crown and winder out which means that the whole movement can drop out. A search of the Miyota website should enable you to find a document on the movement which should tell you how to do it. I had a similar problem with my Ochstin watch, but I don't have the document to hand at present. (My excuse is I changed laptops and I keep all the useful stuff, aka Crap, in archive files and only load back those I need and I have not needed that for the last year so it ain't in the live files.) I am pretty sure it is a pdf file you can get from the Miyota website. If I have the time I will try and find it.

    Best regards,
    Jim

I think that this picture shows the spring you need to release to enable you to pull the Crown and winder out?
I will say it is a damn sight easier on a Seiko Movement. Also a lot of bits on the Miyota are riveted and not designed to be disassembled or serviced, but like I say, you pays your money and takes your choice. But I think the Rotor must have been taken off to get this view, so you may need to move it to get at this. Best of luck
PS This task is not for the foolhardy, I would stick with the crap on the dial and put it down to experience, it is a $60 automatic after all!
