An affordable - vintage looking - quartz watch: suggestions?

    Hi All,

I would like to have a suggestion about a simple, vintage looking quartz watch. Something like this one (which is mechanical):

    Name: B60_Enicar.JPG
Views: 10423
Size: 35.4 KB

    (picture borrowed from the Internet)

I know I can find a lot of mechanical vintage watches, but I am really interested in finding a quartz one.

Center second hand and date are allowed, although not preferred.

The cheaper, the better I'm just looking for something aesthetically appealing!

    Thank you very much!

You might just have to hunt for it. Most companies had quartz offerings when quartz was a new thing so the watches aren't as vintage...but they do look older than most current offerings. I actually just picked up a nice quartz vintage Hamilton but it was just pure coincidence I found it.

Check online auctions...but I think finding something like that Enicar in quartz is going to be tough.

How about the Sekonda 3271 de luxe re-issue?

Bulova had these 'Hack' watches out a year or two ago, I had all three, but sold the common ones...they had a sub seconds. Available in steel and PVD finish.....usually well under $100, there was also an LE swiss made model...I still have that one.

I had a similar problem, here's a thread I started a while ago: https://forums.watchuseek.com/f71/vin...se-519496.html There you can find some good candidates. I especially like the LIPs.

I bought both of those Sekonda reissues Seele posted, and they are fine. BTW, Seele, I know I promised to post a review of those Sekondas and I'm sorry that I haven't had any time to do it. Maybe some day. But here's a pic I snapped:

Junkers and Dugena have launched their Bauhaus-inspired collections, you could check them out, as well. IMO they look quite nice, a lot like the Max Bill line by Junghans.

Sekonda have a wide range of affordable dressy quartzes. I'd suggest looking at Rotary and Accurist too.

    jrantasa,

I am glad that you are happy with the ultra-thin re-issues, they are, I believe, very close reproductions of the originals. I like the originals just because, and Luch (who made the originals) also made them in quartz towards the end, and I have one as well. While the original gold-and-gold with cross brushing is quite common, the blue-and-chrome original is hard to find and tend to command premium prices. So, to my mind these re-issues are good choices, combining the convenience of a modern piece with the original 1961 design looks.

Yes I did. I am a great fan of Timex watches... some of their reissues are wonderful, but a bit different from the one I am looking for right now.
