    Any ideas about St Thomas?

I'm heading to St Thomas in 2 weeks (September 28 - October 4) for my wedding and honeymoon. I need to know where the good places are (if any) for watch shopping. Any ideas??

    :-S

P.S. I won't be spending THAT much time shopping!!
So many watches, so little time...

We were there this past March. Kinda a second honeymoon for us, celebrating 20 years... Yup - twenty years of sheer, wedded bliss!

In truth, I thought it was tons of fun to look around and see all the cool watches - so many all in one place! But the prices were nothing special at all. I'm not sure there's a bargain on that island!

So, unless you've got a coupla thousand for "play money", probably it's just a window shopping mecca.

16 years ago my wife bought me my first "real" watch, a Seiko World Timer, at a jeweler on St. Thomas during our honeymoon. I still have it, just got it back from the watchmaker after a cleaning and I love it though rarely wear it. It wasn't a bargain though. I think that Cotty is right, St. Thomas is a good window shopping/try it on place unless there is a place off the beaten path.
We stayed on St. John (you have to see Cinnamon Bay and the underwater snorkeling trail, I hope it is still there!) and found the same high prices in the shops there. I remember being in one, looking at chronographs. I didn't know any better and enquired about a Jaeger-LeCoultre (had never heard of them before...). I nearly had a heart attack at the price, LOL :-D

Congratulations on getting married, I hope you have a great honeymoon!

    Cheers,
    Griff

Wow Dan, wasn't that long ago you were lamenting a divorce wasn't it?
    Congrats!
Have a great honeymoon even if it does sound like St. Thomas isn't a "WIS Shangri-La".
Congrats again to you as well Tim on your nuptials and that great Seatime LE that inspired me to bite on a similar one!

Re: Any ideas about St Thomas?

There are lots of places to shop for watches in St.Thomas! I went to Jewels on Main St in the main port town where all of the cruise ships dock. My fiance and I bought watches and got great deals and nice service there. I think they're one of the larger stores (multiple locations) if that means anything. There are others that seem good to. Jewels just happened to have what we wanted.

    Have fun!

You might not see much of me. I'll probably be in my room quite a bit!

Yes, that's true and it was right at a year ago that it all happened. This lady is first class all the way and I can't let her go!!!

We'll look at the watches and I'll keep my eye out for a "bargain". Of course, I'll report back on what I find!
