    Casio F-91W

I just bought this violation of my only-1-quartz-(emergency)-watch rule, but I'm just a sucker for hipster ironic statements. And it's mega-affordable:

    The Casio F91W.

This 90s model Casio has a bit of history - apparently it was used as an improvised detonation device during a '95 bombing attempt and has since appeared on blacklists as terrorist gear, going so far as to be used a primary evidence against detainees in Guantanamo. I read about it on the Hodinkee watchblog and then found some more links:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of..._Casio_watches
    http://dashes.com/anil/2009/01/presi...mas-watch.html

Without wanting to spark up a political discussion on WUS, I did find the irony of a widely available, $10 watch branding you a supposed terrorist enough to get one. Especially since for that $10 I get a summer watch that will probably survive anything I can do to it during a vacation, as opposed to my mechanicals which I always baby - even on the beach.

Thanks for posting that man, I love it!! I have its little brother, the F-30. I have a strange fascination for this family of watches.

This watch has special, one piece resin band integrated with case back.
Unfortunately band doesn't last long, it cracks.
And due to 1-piece idea it can't be replaced by other band.
Have to admitt that original band is no longer available.
My son liked this watch. Have replaced several bands and complete watches. Now I gave him my Seiko 5, which he likes, however sometimes he says he prefers digital watches.

Nice, simple, and uncomplicated. What's not to like about it? Cheers!

Is there an updated/current version of the F-30? What's the model number/name?

I believe the current equivalent of the f-30 is the f28 w-1. I think!
