    Is Ginault legitimate? Let's discuss.

Here are my requests for this thread:

    1) Respect each other

    2) ZERO name-calling

    3) Be accurate to the best of your abilities if you choose to make accusations of any kind

    4) No personal attacks

    5) No straw man arguments

****** PLEASE AGREE TO FOLLOW THESE GUIDELINES ******

Since the Ginault scandal has reached a boiling point, and since their fans are *really* struggling with it on their thread, I figure it's best to start a new thread to discuss the current situation.

This thread will serve the purpose of discussing Ginault and whether or not we believe the story - keep it clean...no attacks.

    And go.....

I am still waiting on the investigation that Ginault promised. <g>
The next watch I get will definitively, finally, and without a question, be my last one!

There are allegations that Ginault are using TC (a well-known Rolex counterfeiter) parts.

They are damned by some here however it turns out, jmho. Whether they are guilty or not, is for the courts to decide, not mobs in the streets, even though such are the times.

Ginault has made no public statement outside of an email someone in another thread shared that they received where they denied this, in a general sense and not with specifics. They said they'll look into it with an investigation and release their findings.

I'm not a fan of Ginault, with their thesaurus dial text and dubious marketing practices, but they make homages, not copies. If it turns out they also sell Rolex branded counterfeits, that's another story, but if they're just using very close parts copies to build their Ginault branded watches, that seems legit to me. It's not like they're the only ones...

Re: Is Ginault legitimate? Let's discuss.

If I were ever in the market for a Ginault I might care, but as it is, this is all just slightly amusing. So many choices for sub homages out there, though, just something like this could tip a potential customer elsewhere. I'm actually not a fan of various aspects of the original Rolex Submariner, so too faithful homages don't do it for me. Especially when priced at a premium, like Ginault.

I have no love for IP theft, which is what fakes are, and if the connection between Ginault and TC is true, then shame on them. They apparently committed fraud when filing papers for incorporation, using the names of others without their knowledge or consent, which I find shady as ***k. Also the whole "Made in USA" when probably not.

There will probably never be official litigation to settle all this, so the only thing to go on is that report on this whole deal and the counterclaims, what we already know or assume about the players involved.

Timex ordered Timex branded watches from SKMEI well known for their Casio knock offs...
So... can we discuss Timex and Skmei in light of these things?
Like cosmonaut said Japanese electronics, Russian electronics, American electronics it all made in Taiwan!
Also believing in stories some manufacturing tell should take a let say leap of fate.
    It should be special!
