If You Had $800 to Spend at Jomashop?

Suppose I have $800 to spend at Jomashop. Which watches would you recommend?

    Here are some constraints:

Between say 38mm and 41mm (I have medium to small wrist)
    Automatic
    Probably not a diver
    Band doesn't matter

I've been looking at Hamilton, Oris, and Certina but I'm open to anything. Currently I have two Orients (Bambino, Analyst) and a Revue Thommen Cricket (that needs fixing). I tried on a Hamilton Regulator and found that it was a bit too big.

I'm new to this forum but based on what I've read there is a common response that says "get the one you like best" which isn't very helpful. If I knew which one I liked best I wouldn't be asking for advice.

Does it have to be just one? I'd buy at least two with this budget...

valuewatchguy, Thank you for the suggestion. That's exactly the sort of advice I was looking for. It's an option worth considering. I like everything about that Longines except I'm not sure about the numbers on the dial. They look a bit like the font you'd see on a football jersey.

Davidka, I definitely would consider getting two but the $800 comes from me returning a gift I got for a birthday present. It was a special birthday (it ended in zero) and the idea was to get me a special watch. Getting two watches kind of defeats the original intent. But if I could get two then maybe a Hamilton Khaki and maybe something from Tissot.

the old adage still applies 'if you don't know what you want don't get anything' but this blue oris punches above its weight on strap at 39mm:

I just bought this on a bracelet. I agree. Punches way above its weight.
If I had $800 credit I'd also be looking at Rado. Hyperchrome (with some added cash during a sale) or Original (with a second watch maybe).
    Don't overlook Mido, too.

After dipping my toe in the Hamilton pool I’m a fully paid up fan. I’d suggest the Pan Europ but it busts just about every criteria you’ve set.

Ha, that's a great way to put it. That aesthetic has sullied many otherwise cool-looking Tissots, Certinas, Balls, and others for me, too. I'd second the Oris Artix recommendation and add the Certina DS1 Titanium on bracelet to the mix for $540. Good luck.

Re: If You Had $800 to Spend at Jomashop?

I recently checked out that Longines Conquest at an AD and it's great - the dial is so much nicer than it appears in Jomashop's photos and the bracelet felt good.

Any Oris available for $800 should be a good bet, but I think I'd go for this Artellier:
