Looking for an affordable mechanical alarm watch.

Any good tips for a mechanical alarm on a budget? Preferably under $500 USD, but I could stretch to $1,000.

I'm not opposed to chinese movements.

    Thanks!

Go for a Poljot 2612... there is plenty of choice: dress, sporty, diver, military and all within your budget. The caliber is no longer in production so current watches are built on NOS movements, and it's better to buy fast, but as there are millions of them around spare parts won't be a problem for many decades. Also the movement is a "copy" of a Swiss AS 1475 so probably it's quite known by watchmakers. Chinese alarm movement aren't very common so probably the russian is the most viable affordable root, or you can go on vintage Japanese watches...

Here are 2 of my russian alarm watches:

I wouldn't exclude Swiss watches entirely. If you keep an eye out for "mechanical alarm" watches on eBay, you might just be able to find some.

I think the first blue one is the closest to what I am looking for, but nothing quite fits well enough to justify pulling the trigger.

    Thanks for the suggestions guys!

That was only an example... try some research and there is plenty of choice about style and colour.
