    Show off your first automatic

    I got my first automatic.
I was planning to go ahead with an entry level swiss automatic, but then I saw this. Seiko Prospex SRPA71K1
My only concern was accuracy out of the box. But the watch shop had timegrapher, so i was able to confirm it before buying. It is +5 spd. Got it for around 300 euros.

Got these two about the same time, if memory serves. Had manual winders prior.

Thumbs Up Re: Show off your first automatic

I had not had/worn an automatic watch for over 30+ years, but about 2 years ago I got that itch!

So I started reading and eventually found that I could get a reasonable Seiko, for not a lot of money. So for an investment of £50 by my wife for a Christmas Present I eventually got this watch, ex-display:

Since then I have been off down the Rabbit hole Never to return

    Long may it continue
    Best regards,

Vostok Amphibia. At the time, I felt like I was joining a secret society and would soon be inundated with knowing looks and watch enthusiasts coming out of the woodwork to strike up a conversation during mundane errands. Turns out, it's just another watch that no one notices. But I know how cool it is.

Had manual wind watches as a kid, then moved to quartz when they came out. Bought my first automatic in 2009 and now automatics, along with an occasional manual wind, is all I buy.

No problem. Back in the day it was hand crankers only for us peasants then I had a brief flirtation with some quartz pieces in the 80ís so it was into the 90ís before I got my first auto. Itís not exactly affordable but itís all Iíve got as my first auto.

Reliable and good looking. I've swapped bezels & straps for different looks. Had quartz chrono and dress eco-drive before, still have'm if needed.
