This is exactly what I thought, long shining lume is what I need. And as I read in other thread Invictas are good for modifications, I am under impression of the concept Brotherhood of Submariner Homages and modded watches (often Invictas) there with proud BSH logo, I wonder how could I get one.
I can confirm that this new Invicta does NOT have the Invicta logo emblazoned on the side of the case. Nice!
You can see it yourself (as well as a lot more of the watch) in the video that's embedded in the ShopHQ page to which mb8780 linked, above (and reposted below):
You'll also see that, unlike the 8926OB, the new watch has brushed sides and a polished bevel. All in all, it's very tasteful.
Yes, yes, insert obligatory Invicta joke, nod and wink. But a watch with these specs and style at this price . . . this is the antithesis of what we criticize the company for, so credit where credit is due (though the lume probably still sucks, ha!).
Fingers crossed that the watch, in-person, will be as good as it appears on paper and video. Looking forward to your review, mb8780!
p.s. edit: Looks like code SAVE20 applies a 20% discount, making this watch a whopping $72 before shipping and tax.
They could have a nice niche among the WIS community if they would just refrain from engraving the damn name-on-the-side, and splashing on that awful crucified vulture on the dial, and all in reasonable size cases.
I wonder why they don't do that, even while catering to all the igno-Guidos of the world?
I like it, Black Bay competitor was my first thought. They obviously opted not to do the snowflake hands, Red Pip-Triangle, or the "Smiling" words on the dial.
You know, if you had told me 10 minutes ago when I logged on to WUS that I'd be buying an Invicta I'd have called you a crazy nutjob watch collector.
Yet here we are, me having impulse bought this watch within moments of opening this thread. Just too much to like, and I think I spent more on pizza Wednesday night than this watch cost.
~ 87 for me in California, shipped, with SAVE20 code applied.
I'm sure everyone already knows this but me, but just in case, this watch is a nice homage of the original Rolex Submariner.
I bought it because I really like the aesthetics, but knowing now where the design originated sweetens the deal. I'm pretty stoked on this one...first Invicta so we'll see how it goes.
Maybe they saw this other homage if the original sub and decided hey, we could do one too.
