Off Topic post Rome - cheap central hotel/apartment recommendation please

I'm planning a long weekend in Rome in a month or two. I visited the city once about 10 years ago, and stayed in a little self-catering apartment near the Spanish Steps.

Anyone have any current recommendations for something affordable and clean in the centre? A central location is much more of a priority than luxury, as with limited time available I need to be able to walk from the room to the Vatican, Colosseum, Spanish Steps etc.

    Many thanks!

Hotel Regno is pretty nice. Location can't be beat, right on Via Del Corso about 5 minutes from everything. Wouldn't say it's cheap but maybe you can get a deal. Our travel agent booked for us along with transport to/from airport and it worked out great.
