    WSOP Main Event

Today is the last iteration of day 1...they split it up for a few reasons, one of which is the sheer number of players. Broken 8000 already, which is second only to 2006. And registration continues through the first level of the day 2 sessions.

So there was the kind of drama today (day 1C) that NO ONE wants.

First: a guy was apparently pretty clearly drunk (according to another player at the table). He won a pot...and in the process of scooping up the chips he won, he deliberately scooped up a bunch of chips from his neighbor's stack. BOOM! Disqualified.

    That was the warmup act.

Another guy, who I HAVE to believe was also wasted, bet his entire stack pre-flop, BLIND...he hadn't looked. THEN turned them over before the betting was over...so everyone could see he had junk. He got called. It.......went WAY, WAY downhill from there:

Suffice to say, he got DQ'd...and almost certainly arrested, altho that's not reported.

One must wonder what aspect of this they'll regret the most...cuz each one of em is out their $10K buy-in.
And it is also said, "go not to the Elves for counsel, for they will say no and yes."

    Re: WSOP Main Event

OK, so this is now the freakiest WSOP in history.

Ridgecrest isn't that far from Vegas...so yes, they felt the quake this evening. The dinner break was coming up fairly soon, so after a few minutes they decided to take the break early. Lot of players were a little freaked...which, having been in one good-sized quake, is *entirely* understandable, I can assure you...and given that this is being held in honkin' big ballrooms with HUNDREDS of suspended lighting rigs, makes sense.
