Do you plan to buy a watch in 2010? - I'm feeling pretty warm and fuzzy with what I have currently in my collection so I have no plans to buy, but you know how that goes with this silly affliction
Buy more than one this year? - See above answer...
Spend more than, or less than $1000? - If I were to fall off the wagon I'm sure it would be right around the $1000 mark
Must be? - Swiss, German, US made or have a Swiss movement, hand wind or auto, 100m-1000m depth, it all depends.....
How many watches over $500 MSRP do you currently own? - 3
Happy New Year to you too John!

More than one? I draw your attention to the above, with particular emphasis on Item 3.
More or less than $1K? Less. Considerably less.
Must be: At least 200m; on a bracelet.
How many watches over $500 MSRP? I own one.
Well do you? - Yes
Buy more than one this year? - Maximum 3 but at least one.
Spend more than, or less than $1000? - More, unfortunately.
Must be - Automatic, black dial, good size.
How many watches over $500 MSRP do you currently own? - None so far, but the one i'll probably get in a few months will set me back well over 500$.
I am not familiar with the concept of having a plan. I had no plan to buy a watch in December 09, and I bought 3. Over 1000 (1) Over 500 (2).
As far as the US economy goes. I am a medical marketing consultant and as such my income is directly impacted by how consumers spend money. My observation is that people are still spending, however they are being much more careful, and doing much more research before parting with cash these days. They are much more price sensitive and value driven. My $.02
Back to watches. If I do have a plan it is to add a Bathys to my collection in 2010. I had one of the original quartz Bathys and sold it. It is one of my regrets, I really can't remember why I sold it.

retrograde day and large date

Anyone have an idea of what it could be? John should have a good idea.

Don't know if you went out to surf over the past couple of days, but it looks like Kauai got larger waves than we did on Oahu...
Yes, I plan on buying a watch; my last watch of 2009 came in on Dec. 29th, and the second half of the year was busy - about one a month. I don't expect to do that for 2010, but at least one is to be expected. So, to answer your questions:
Buy more than one this year? Hopefully.
Spend more than, or less than $1000? Probably less than $1,000.
Must be_200M WR. Could be auto or quartz, Swiss or other.
(what? automatic? Swiss? 200M? 1000M? on a bracelet?)
How many watches over $500 MSRP do you currently own? About 12.
I just bought a new watch....a beater but a new beater! An Invicta 6024 Pro Diver that I plan on Throwing on a Nato, Its 43mm Japanese Movement, and Some flame Fusion crystal...I fugured it couldnt be too bad for $70
And I plan on spoiling the hell outta myself this coming may when I Finally Graduate from Medical School....After 4 years for a Bachelors, 2 years for a Masters, and now another 4 for Med School... Man its been a Long Ten Years! Im just trying to figure out what is my "True Grail" and how much I can actually afford, do I want to sell off any of my current collection to do so etc....You hang around this forum and you tend to grow a list of Dream watches 15 long .....LOL so We'll See!
It occurred to me rather than read all the BS online about the state of the US economy, the consumer confidence index, blah blah...that I could simply ask the forum if they plan to buy a watch in 2010.
But as for your questions.... It will most likely be more than $1000
Most likely Swiss...but as you can see from my collection Im really not hung up on that.
Definitely Automatic--I don't care much for Quartz. Although I might pick up an Atomic G-Shock in the Future
Watches over $500 at the moment just 2
