Dive watch worn By Jaques Cousteau?

So what did he wear ? Was there an official supplier for the crew of the Calypso?

The ones that I know of are Omega Ploprof, Blancpain 50 Fathom, Doxa 300T Sharkhunter.

The big question is, what is his most favorite dive watch?

His favorite dive watch? I seem to see the Aquastars in a lot of photos, and a lot of Omegas. Of course, he probably preferred Doxa over all others - ok, maybe I'm projecting a little there -

FWIW...years ago, on another watch forum, a collector told a story about how he met one of Jacques son's. He asked him about the watches and the response was that they all were often sponsored or offered watches from manufacturers. They just wore whatever they were given and didn't seem to give much thought to it.
Not really the answer that us collectors want to hear, but it makes sense.

Well no single supplier but many of the high end manufacturerss were supplying .No Citezens or Seikos for the crew of Calypso. It was good to be Jaques Cousteau.

Actually divers in the late 80's early 90's were given Citizen Aqualands.

I love my Aqualand even more now!

Just a question - I assume Rolex and Omega were high end in the 60s and 70s, but were Doxa and Aquastar? How much more expensive was a Doxa dive watch in the late 60s/early 70s than a Seiko? I saw an old ad where Doxa Subs were selling for 250 dollars.

I guess with so many free watches, the one watch that a person cherishes most would be the one he bought it himself maybe....?

    +1 It's good to be a Cousteau.
