Fricker Watch Company Closed - 12/31/2019...

Another one bites the dust - DAMN! On the one hand, I'm patting myself on the back for buying a PILE of spare parts from them in 2019 for my Corvus Bradley. I made 4-5 separate orders over the course of ~6 months, and each time my orders were handled promptly (including emails), courteously, and with the utmost of Teutonic precision. I would have bought even more spares if I had known they were closing their doors - very sad...

Did they ever make watches? I'm not familiar with them. I thought they were just a case maker.

This sucks, I've had a half dozen or more Fricker cased divers over the years and foolishly flipped all of them, very high quality stuff, hate to see them go:(

Legends! Everyone wanted a Fricker case in the 2000's. Sad to see them go.

I once owned a Kobold Seal with a Fricker case and it was an impressive piece of casework. Hate to see them go.

Not a surprise really if we think about it.

With the availability of CNC milling machines world-wide and more and more blanks coming out of Asia nearly complete needing only minor finishing, I imagine they had a hard time being competitive with product coming out of the Pacific rim. Also, I believe that the lables made in Germany or made in Switz mean that over 50% of the content of the finished product need to be from those countries so if you buy the case cheap enough and finish in those countries you can put the made in germany or swiss label on a watch with an Asian case, and make more profit.

when enough people say how happy they are getting 90% of the enjoyment at 10% of the price, brands listen..

What a shame. I've owned several watches with Fricker cases. Still have this one along with a spare acrylic crystal.
