Is Ginault a monopoly? Who’s comparable?

I’ve worked my way through so many sub homages...from $100 invicta 8926 to $500 Steinharts/squales but they were not close enough to the original for me.

Im not interested in the real thing. That’s too much money for me to risk losing/damaging it.

I want a luxury homage. $800-$900 ish. But it seems like Ginault is my only option. Do they monopolize this segment? I like the Ginault but not the red second hand. I’m looking at other options, but I want something very close to the subs design. The Ginault case and dial is so close...who else makes such a watch?

    Am I stuck with Ginault?

Monta? Approximately the same price and quality (from what they say). In the end, it may come down to a choice based on the design.

This is only a $200 watch. I’m talking about the luxury “ultra” homages. I’ve had all the sub homages up to $500 and the squale was the closest imo but still, the Ginault looks like it is in a different class.

Which Monta are you suggesting looks like the Submariner? From my research, none of them do. I’m not looking for a generic $900 dive watch. I’m looking for an “ultra homage” as Ginault put it.

You could buy the Ginault and change out the red second hand.

Other possibilities: MkII Nassau or Kingston if you can find one used (both no longer in production) ...

Just buy an Ocean Rover and replace the seconds hand. Theres a few Ginault owners that have done it so ask around in the Ginault thread.

I am going by looks alone. Steinhart makes a great watch for the price but Tisell's case looks a lot more like a Sub.

Yea, I thought about swapping out the second hand. If I can find a good price on a Ginault- I’ll probably go that route. But I want to make an informed decision and consider the comparables.

The Nassau and Kingston are homages to the Submariner from the 50s with no crown guards. I don’t like the look of no crown guards. Thanks for the suggestion though.

I guess I’m just curious as to what are the comparables to the Ginault Ocean Rover?
