New Luminox Diver - Bear Grylls

Cool looking 42mm tool watch. Would like to see it in person. Thinking $445 is a tough sell for a quartz diver. What do you guys think?

I really like Luminox watches but always feel they are a tad overpriced to me. Look fab and love the tritium tubes but like you say I will have to reserve judgement until I see one in the flesh.

.. can only answer for the quartz part,
$445 isn't inexpensive, nor does the brand usually go that much higher,
but simple, mass produced movements, auto or quartz, aren't priced differently enough to be a decisive factor in the price of a watch.
something like a better finish of the case, which can't even be seen in pictures,
will likely cost a brand more than going from quartz to a basic 3 hander auto movement.

sorry, I don't have any experience to speak of with luminox, but I wouldn't let the 'price for quartz' weight much on my decision, it's the rest of the watch that has to live up to the price point

I recon it looks pretty cool. Good value for money for your uber-outdoorist but I don't know how practical it would be for me, who transitions between the ocean and work daily. Could come across as.....as an uber-outdoorist's watch. Might look a touch kiddy.

Also need to know if it has a screw down crown. It’s hard to call it a “diver” without one

i'd rather it yell "never give up!" at me in bear gryll's voice/accent at the push of a button, than have that logo on the dial. he could also yell other survival advice at you, depending on how much audio they could fit into a small quartz module, haha.

Looks like they used a bunch of random parts. Lets take one of these here... and um... I dunno, one a those? Yeah, looks like a mess, let's keep going! Ok, now add a little blue ring near the 9 o'clock.... can we put some writing in it? I know "never giver up," yeah, that'll be cool. I know, let's do a funny looking speckled box around the date. What else can look goofy... let's go for a spilt dial, sand blasted look on the bottom, divided by a whitish line and stripe patter on the top?

Simply nothing for them to brag about with this model. Being luminox, I am not surprised.

    Not for me.
Don’t Casio offer a similar looking G Shock for less money?

    Nice looking watch!
Always liked Luminox but find them "tough" to buy new. They tend to take a decent hit on the resale market.
The price isn't too bad considering the price would be 4X that if it said Omega on the dial as an example.
