Question If you had 1 shot at a Glashutte made piece - $2k or less, what be it?

I pray that this German sickness has to pass! I am quite undisciplined and all over the place at this point. I have interest in Guinand- duograph panda, Sinn- 903st, Hanhart- Pioneer Mk 1, Junghans- Max Bill 100 Jahre, Circula- Heritage. All for different reasons and uses.

I don't see myself becoming a true collector, yet do not want to fall into the "hoarder" abyss!

However, after much pouring over German pedigree threads here, I find myself at a T-Intersection. The left turn begs me: "You know you "want" a German time piece representing the Glashutte ethic and badge, no."

So, do I in fact turn left? How/where do I enter onto that path with your collective guidance?

    Just the facts Ma'am:
    • Around the $2K or less ballpark (flexible)

    1. Bang for Buck quotient

    • Suite/BOD appropriate (only 5x per year)

    1. Perhaps some playful color for daily wear the rest of the time (my office is at home)

    • White face me thinks ...

    1. Always an exception out there ... talking to you Union Noramis Anthracite Power Reserve!

    • Highly readable (60 YO eyes)
    • Likely not over 40-41mm w/Lugs not over 48-50 mm (have 6.75"/17 cm wrist)
    • Either hand wind or mechanical auto (no quartz)
    • Date doesn't matter but based on aesthetic

Thanks for enduring this. And what say ye?

Nomos Club in 36mm (manual), 38.5 (manual with date), or 40mm (auto). The auto may be just beyond your lug to lug requirement. I owned the 41.5mm (auto with date) and loved it; thinking of repurchasing a Club.

    36mm shown here

Great and Interesting start guys, thanks.

Haven’t warmed up to the Club look. I think I prefer the Tangente/Tangomat look, but I do like the red accents of that Club.

Mike, what is the lug to lug dimension of the Muhle 29? They appear to be shorter than most of the other Muhle’s. I fear it may be to big for me. My Laco Memm eats up my wrist at 50 mm. Also is the flange as light blue as the photos make it seem? That was the one issue that gave me pause with it, otherwise I like! Now I do like the 29 Classic and that deep gauge visual but wasn’t sure if it would look refined enough for a “dressy” environment.

    Please keep it coming folks.

If I can go used, the 35mm Tangente Gangreserve Datum (131).

If not, maybe the 34mm Union 1893 Small Seconds.

I also like the Muhle 29er, nice size at under 37mm.

Leader board starting to take shape w/Nomos & Muhle 29.

& jmario, I like what Union has in the 1893 series, especially the Johannes Durrstein edition.

If I could get an A. Lange & Söhne Saxonia for under 2k, I'd be a very happy camper.

I really like those, specially the handwound feature and dial assymetry (hence my choice of the tangente 131). But I tried to stick to watches I'd actually wear, mostly regarding size.
