Vintage Junghans J 88 going to auction

My favourite auction house is going to sell a J88 powered chrono from 1962

Beautiful chrono. Maybe Junghans will do a re-issue of that chrono.

Well, not a real re-issue of a bi-compax chrono but a nice try

There was a Junghans re-issue about 5-7 years ago of this watch and some Poljots are close in looks.

Below is the Junghans 1951 Chrono re-issue (valjoux 7760) with one of the Bundeswehr chronos like the one going for auction.

Those are beauties. Maybe Junghans will think about doing these 2 again.

Re: Vintage Junghans J 88 going to auction

I am back on my main computer so I can post pics of the re-issued Junghans Flieger Chronograph Bundeswehr. Once in a while one of these will show up for sale.

The Junghans Flieger re-issue is virtually identical to the 1955 original, except that the heart of that one was the beautiful Junghans J88 movement, while the new movement is an alien invader, the ETA/Valjoux 7760. Both are handwound. When scanning German second-hand watch sites, one can regularly come across the original Flieger, and the asking price is usually about equivalent to the price of the copy.

    Wouter,

That one is a beauty. I haven't seen one of the originals like this, and the
re-issue doesn't have the charisma of the real thing.
