Might be announced days before Basel. Not that long to wait, since HAQers have been waiting almost a year.

In my opinion, it is too optimistic. Maybe something to come in 2020...

I'd agree generally but I've seen bits and pieces over the winter saying they're still on target for a Baselworld release.

I think it’s optimistic too, but it’s worth holding off on my next HAQ purchase till then.

Maybe only LEs at this Basel, serially produced next year?

Fact #1: Citizen had shown a demo model (or prototype) pocket watch fitted with Cal.0100 last year at Basel.
Fact #2: Nothing has been shown or officially said/written in relation to the Cal.0100 (let alone about placing that movement into a wristwatch case) since then.

I wish I could share your optimism about Citizen serially producing a wristwatch fitted with Cal.0100... I could be wrong but I can't see that happening. A project like that would have been sensible at the end of the 1990s (the required technologies were already available at that time) but now 20 years later with all the alternative and cheap but effective solutions around... well, it simply lost that momentum by now.

Citizen seem to me to be notoriously tight-lipped about information. It's released when it's released and that's it. We just gotta wait.

Re: Any pre-Basel leaks on a Citizen Caliber 0100 wristwatch?

There hasn't been anything official, no; however, one of the blogs got a tour a couple months back and wrote an article. The Cal 0100 did get mentioned, and a BW 2019 release was still the intent. Seems rather unlikely they'd say that, unless they had confirmation from the Citizen execs.

There may be no momentum per se, but if nothing else...it's an opportunity to one-up Seiko, and another platform to showcase technical expertise. Sounds like 2 real good reasons to me.

As far as what they'll release: the Eco Drive One was released with multiple models; the LE had the cermet bezel but also a sintered ceramic case. The regular production models had stainless cases. Plus, I think they'll want to strike while the PR is hot, as was the case with the Eco Drive One. That encourages me to think the 0100 won't just have an LE release, but I also wouldn't be too surprised if they go with "deluxe model" versions only, like the paper-dial Chronomasters, for the first version. I think we all expect this to become their flagship Eco Drive, so ONLY doing deluxe treatments might make sense.

Deluxe or LE, it will be costly.
