Picture Citizen Crystron 4 Mega photo

    Hi guys.

Long time no seen as usual.
I have just bought me a new camera so I thought I'd share some pics with you.
Is there a better watch to start with than the above mentioned....

    Best regards

Absolutely beautiful, panosd. It looks almost like new. Have you had it refurbished? I wish that Citizen had continued the day/date feature in (some of) their The Citizens. Two questions: (a) Does it live up to its specs (which, if I remember correctly, were ± 3 sec./year)? and (b) What is the battery life with that 4 mega oscillator?

Edit: I just thought of another question: Is it thermocompensated or does it derive its great accuracy solely from the high-frequency oscillator?

I suspect that panosd's watch is very similar to the one that I have. My watch uses only the high frequency crystal to provide immunity from thermal effects. If I remember correctly, only the very expensive solid gold version was advertised at 3 spy. Other 4 mega's were more like 5 spy or greater (this statement subject to correction by more knowledgeable forum members!!). My watch is currently keeping time at under 5 spy. It's ability to compensate for temperature is shown in the following post: https://forums.watchuseek.com/showthread.php?t=298773

Thanks, dwjquest. I should have remembered that thread, as it answers pretty much all my questions. These were really fabulous watches--really as good as today's The Citizens, except, perhaps, wrt battery life.

Edit: There were Citizen Crystron models that were not 4 megas, weren't there?

Actually, almost all Citizen Crystron models were not 4 megas and there are a lot of Crystron models!

Is it the one you bought from ppaulusz? Didn't have a bracelet ? How is its accuracy ? Must be very stable with its 4mhz crystal, and a battery guzzler too ?

Yes that's the one. I changed the bracelet for a RIOS crocodile strap to avoid scratches. I haven't changed the battery yet so it's not that bad.
I been to busy to check its accuracy. But you are right I should do that...

panosd, it is doing all right. It tends to be off 30 sec/year. I suspect it is not a TC watch, but one who's crystal was more carefully selected.
