I don't know what my new Grail should be??

I've owned my "grail" for over a year now. It's a GS SBGX115 diver.

Now I'm interested in the question "what's next"?
I don't think it exists - so help me out if it does...

    - sub 40mm
    - GS or Rolex level finishing
    - HAQ (I want an accurate watch)
    - smooth, tight, super-grippable, easily turned bezel (I've an Omega SMP that's great - except for the bezel action)
    - Seiko level lume
    - great legibility in all light (or no light)
    - lug holes
    - curved/fitted rubber strap available (ie: Everest or Crafter Blue)

If I were to invent my own, it would be a maxi dial, 16610 case, No-Date Rolex Submariner - but quartz. Not really a bracelet guy, so don't care so much about that.

Note that the SBGX115 hits all the marks here except for size (it's about 42mm), and the availability of a fitted rubber strap.

See what comes out of Basel. You have a lot of requirements there you will likely have to relax one or more of them. Note that the entire concept of "grail" is a fallacy.

The Citizen or Chronomaster models don't work for you?

Altho I agree, Baselworld's only 3 weeks away now.

Fitted rubber straps are tough. I got my Omega AT 38 earlier this year, on rubber because it figured to be what I wanted, and because even from Omega, it seemed hard to find if I didn't get it it the time of purchase. For aftermarket, ya gotta fit it to the lug location and case size, so it's inherently trickier.

Stared at the Chronomaster for quite a while. But I find myself actually using a dive bezel quite often, and frustrated when the watch I have on (like the SARX055 right now) kinda frustrating...

Good points about Basel and how chasing a "Grail" is really pretty stupid....

Good point. Maybe I should just get a G-Shock.

Mr. Moderator wonders if this thread needs a rest until Basel or closed?

The timefactors prs-q8 cosc quartz might tide you over. I've never seen one in the metal but it has a 39mm diameter dive bezel (granted the case is larger), C3 luminova, 20mm lug width so you'll likely find an aftermarket rubber strap.

Finishing wise it's not going to be on a grand Seiko level but at £250 it might suit as a fun beater that you can where when you don't want to risk scratching the GS.
