    Longines VHP 2018

Depressing to me. My early take is, this is mostly a new paint job and a bigger box. OK, there may be more going on as we get more info, but I just don't see that this broadens their offerings that much, at this point.

    Still "water-resistant to 5 bar (50 m/165ft)"... sigh.

Well, this is the chrono version so not exactly a "paint job" I would say. Or were you just referring to that ugly rubber strap?

What I find odd is the VHP chrono was shown last year with the 3 hander:

    https://www.ablogtowatch.com/longine...ision-watches/

I remember seeing a lot of pics of the chrono with the 3 hander in many press write-ups. The difference of course is the chrono still isn't for sale yet anywhere best I know, the 3 hander has been out a few months now though.

I bet we don't see the chrono until later this summer at the earliest, later in the fall more likely. That seems to be the time lag between Basel announcement and actual product hitting the market for Swatch Group. I never understood why Swatch will also show off a model and not have it available for sale for over a year though (ex: several Omegas and now this VHP chrono), by the time it hits the market a lot of potential buyers forgot it exists or got frustrated and gave up waiting.

Yes, I was also wondering what the differences are with the chronos already shown.

Fall seems reasonable for watches announced at Basel.

Timing's dependent. Nomos has some new ones coming out...not quartz of course...but they're saying immediately available. Same with Tissot.

tmathes, I didn't think the chrono was at all new. They were shown last year. I'll concede I'm not tracking them very closely, so if they were never actually available, well, I suppose that's kinda new.

I think the rubber strap is new while the chronos are finally shown as (almost) available.

What I am really waiting for is a VHP movement in a Hydroconquest.

Looks like the only thing you'll get new in the Hydroconquest is a cermaic bezel along with some new dial colors, no HAQ:

Yes, I saw that ... a bit disappointing. I really hope they will put the VHP movement in there!

Must be some reason the regular VHP is only 50m though...
