    Omega Seamaster Polaris Caseback gasket?

I have a newly acquired Seamaster Polaris with Cal 1445. It has a snap on caseback but I see no O ring or gasket. I would think it should have one. Does anyone know if it should have a gasket?

The gasket is needed only if you care about making the watch water resistant. I wear so much early vintage that I have become careful enough not to care.

Who is the company behind it? Why are they using this material?

Yes, it should have one. My guess is the original was lost during a battery change or over time it dissolved into a gunky mess. If you plan on wearing the watch much I recommend that all gaskets be replaced.

Thanks for the info. After a second look I found it stuck to the movement plastic. Both are black plastic and did not see it the first time. It still might need replacement.
