Simply the best value watch in the world, bar none.

    It's this one:
For the money this watch is simply AMAZING. Accuracy is near perfect - we are talking one second a month! And it's a nicely built and solid watch as well, very readable and pretty conventional and good looking, unlike the butt-ugly garbage that Bulova produces on a regular basis. Unfortunately someone at Bulova noticed that the watch was too stylish and nice looking and decided to discontinue it as it didn't suit the 'gold chains and earrings' types that Bulova aims at.

Nothing is a good value if it means settling for something you don't like.

Personally, I don't find the shape of the case of the watch in your link to particularly attractive, perhaps because of the somewhat square case shape.

The dial isn't bad, but there are plenty of dials I like better, including lots of other Bulovas.

For the same money, I'd much rather have THIS one, same movement with what I find to be much more attractive styling...

I'll submit this as an even better value...UHF chronograph for $219, also on Amazon, which I actually did purchase.

Your closing remark regarding gold chains and earrings is not clear. Do you mean women? Pirates?

Perhaps you would care to elaborate in greater detail?

Last year, a large UK retailer was clearing these at around 1/3 the Amazon price. There were only 2 shops left with them and as I was planning to drive right past one I placed an order, just to see how a Bulova compares with my TC watches. Unfortunately ill health cancelled my trip and I didn't get my watch. No regrets, as it is really rather ugly (although better than most of their range) and the UK version came on a truly horrible green fabric strap.

For reference, what he's talking about is the Precisionist 96B230, which can be found for pretty cheap. For a reason, IMO.

Pie-pan bezel and semi-cushion case? Doesn't fit well. Weird proportions...graceless. Heck, field-style dial and pie-pan? Another mismatch. Dial would work better without the minutes, or slide that to the rehaut. I'll pass. Price says I'm not alone. Doesn't help this was an Accutron II, and they dropped the line altogether.

Mind, had you gone with this one:

    I might agree more.

Oh, and a bit of checking online...the 230 can be found notably cheaper than on the 'zon.

Nice movement, same one as in my Surveyor.

As others have stated, there's a reason why so many of them are floating around so cheap and for so long since they were discontinued years ago. "Best Value" is often in the eyes of the beholder, and this beholder doesn't see much "value" there.

So true. I would say the best 'value' I've seen are the digital casios (amazon 10-15$).
But that's only if I wanted to tell the time inelegantly, and depend on batteries to boot
