Michel Herbelin Newport Chronograph
After updating the design last year, the Michel Herbelin French Watchmaking Studio now presents the Newport Chronograph in an all-black version. The decidedly sporty watch packs a robust punch with standout features that make it a choice timepiece for the distinguished gentleman. . .
This steel timepiece coated in black PVD throughout is instantly recognisable as part of the Newport family and maintains all of the original specifications of the collection. Its rounded case measures 42.5 mm in diameter. The notched black dial with circular brushed bezel is arranged like a dashboard, engraved with a tachymeter scale. Punctuated with luminescent baton hour markers ringed by a discreet minute track on the encircling flange, the dial houses three counters in a V shape, in an anthracite grey that discreetly draws the gaze. Complete with a large date aperture at 12 o’clock, the well-balanced design affords easy reading of the information on display.
A steadfast companion for the man who lives life at 100 miles an hour, this Michel Herbelin chronograph comes with a rubber-look black leather strap that complements its sporty aesthetic. Pairing equally well with a jacket as with a casual outfit, it makes a versatile everyday companion for the man who lives life to the full.
Fitted with a Swiss-made quartz chronograph movement (Ronda), the Newport Chronograph guarantees precision to 1/10th of a second, for 54 months. Made for racing, it features a tachymeter scale that runs from 60 to 400 km/h, allowing dedicated record breakers to measure their average speed over a given distance. Also water-resistant to 100 metres (double-gasket crown), this sporty Michel Herbelin, protected by a sapphire crystal, is in pole position to accompany the masculine gent in his many pursuits.
Like all the brand’s timepieces, this Newport chronograph was conceived, designed, assembled, regulated and quality checked at the Michel Herbelin studios in the Jura mountains of the Franche-Comté region. Heir to a French watchmaking tradition stretching back over 70 years, it offers the assurance of stringent technical standards.

About Michel HERBELIN. . . In the last century, Michel HERBELIN founded his eponymous brand as an independent family-owned traditional French watchmaking company in Charquemont, in the region of Haut-Doubs near the Swiss border. Set in the heart of Fine Watchmaking country – close to its main suppliers to ensure absolute control over production – the company has its own design studio within the workshops where watches are assembled. Beautifully made in a price range from €300 to €2,000, Michel Herbelin watches are exclusively equipped with Swiss movements. In 2016, annual production reached 85,000 watches, with distribution through 3,000 points of sale across 50 countries. Heir to a watchmaking tradition stretching back over 70 years, this Jura brand is spurred on by the passion of a family that has seen three generations take up the craft since 1947. Today Pierre-Michel HERBELIN is at the helm as CEO, working alongside three of the founder’s grandchildren in the design and marketing departments – all of them driving forward the venture begun by their forefathers.
