I really like date hand (sometimes called “pointer date”), with dates around the perimeter of the dial. That mechanism is very easy on my aging eyes - since the angle of the date hand gives me a clue to start with. For example, if the the date is approximately at 9:00 on the dial, my brain knows that that the date is likely the 22, 23, or 24.
I have a Citizen 6355-0A with a date hand, and I like it quite bit. the only issue is that it has gold hands against a gold background, which is darn near unreadable under a lot of lighting conditions.
I saw a Citizen Eco Drive AP1052-00A on eBay, and it looks very nice. I have not had great luck with used watches on eBay, and I would like to buy it new. I have only been able to find it from some of what I think are “grey market” dealers, and it’s listed as “not available” several other places. This all leads me to believe that it has been discontinued. I have attached a link to a picture of the watch.
I have a hard time searching for “date hand” on the Citizen watch site.
Does anyone know of a Citizen watch in current production with a date hand?
