    Hi,

I was wondering if anyone could help, i have had this watch from new (around the early 80's), can anyone on here date it for me roughly & maybe tell me a bit more about it, ie is it rare/valuable what the exacct model is etc..I am unable to find one for sale anywhere at present.

Help with a Citizen Rare Watch 80's

Itís a 40-4110 and this one was made in 1978.
Was a basic volume seller from that era so not particularly rare or valuable.
Around that time, Alarms and Ana-Digital were also making their mark and becoming more prevalent.
Early digital watches in good condition are starting to get harder to source as they werenít always well looked after, so the collectibility of working models will only improve over time.
Cheap mall and self battery changes, (and the difficulty in finding suitable seals for these small covers), did horrible things to water resistance and these movements donít cope well with water or dust ingress.

Thank you for your detailed reply, it was very interesting to read,

Any ballpark figure what it may be worth, or should i keep it for another 30 years ?

This is not the best place for valuations, check recent sales on eBay for a better indication.

There will be a few of these, and I would expect them to typically be in the under $100 AUD range for a good one.

Thereís one on eBay AU now asking $120, but itís with box and papers and almost NOS and itís been listed for a while and not selling.

WUS user rules prohibit giving valuations
Ebay will tell you the market price

ok thanks, sorry about asking for a valuation, its difficult to value anything when you don't have a benchmark to go on,

    Thanks for all your help
